[Criminal] Successful Referral to Prosecutors in Counterfeit Trademark Case for Italian Sports Brand Macron
We are pleased to report the successful outcome of a criminal case handled by our firm – led by Attorney and Patent Attorney Heejin Seong – on behalf of the world-renowned Italian sports brand Macron.
Macron is one of Europe’s three leading football brands, alongside Nike and Adidas, and serves as the official supplier of referee equipment for UEFA. The company is also the official kit supplier for Incheon United FC, a K League club for which we serve as Legal Counsel.
Macron received reports that counterfeit products bearing its trademark were being manufactured and sold in Korea without authorization. Macron retained SON & Partners to pursue legal action against the infringer under the Korean Trademark Act.
The counterfeiting activities had continued for a considerable period and involved multiple professional sports teams, making the case highly complex. Despite the suspect’s strong denial of the charges, our firm conducted a thorough investigation, directly engaged with related parties, and collected critical evidence.
As a result, the police recognized the suspect’s violation of the Trademark Act and referred the case to the prosecutor’s office.
We will continue to take all necessary legal measures to protect our client’s rights and interests throughout the remaining proceedings.
Thank you.
